Our strategy of reviewing best assignment services

Our team performs mystery shopping by placing orders on the websites of the most popular online writing companies to check whether they deserve their leading positions. We asked them to write a 6-hour personal narrative and a 7-day memo to the CEO. When ordering a personal narrative, we hoped our writer would ask more questions about us to make the text more individualized. We track our papers’ journey from the point we fill out the order form to the moment we get them from our writers.

Here is what we asked to write:

✍ Paper ⭐ Personal Essay (2 pages) 💼 Business Memo (4 pages)
🎓 Academic level Undergrad. (yrs. 1-2) Undergrad. (yrs. 3-4)
✅ Paper format MLA Chicago / Turabian
⏰ Deadline 6 hours 7 days
👉 Paper instructions For this assignment, you will be writing a personal narrative–a story–illustrating an event or experience exemplifying gratitude. In other words, share a colorful story about an experience or event for which–either during or after the event– you feel or felt thankful. An example might be writing about your experience as a senior in high school and the teacher who helped you to achieve your goal of graduating and attending college. Another example might be writing a story about your experience growing up in a rural community, acknowledging that it was this small, but mighty, community that made you who you are today, and for this, you are thankful. This assignment should be at least 550 words. Underline your descriptive thesis statement or the point of your story. No outside/secondary sources are needed. See Appendix C – Formatting and Submitting Your Work See Formatting your Essay: MLA 8th Edition You are the Government Relations Director at a Canadian business. You have been asked to write a memo to your CEO about COVID-related government impacts on your business, comparing two provinces in which you operate. Your assignment is to write & submit this memo Your Task:
1. Choose a specific business you work in (Air Canada, Loblaws, 3M Canada, etc).
2. Choose two provinces to compare for your memo.
3. Research both provinces – what restrictions were in place in both provinces that affect your business? What supports are in place?
4. Write a memo in three parts: (1) how COVID is impacting our business, (2) a comparison of two provinces, (3)reflections on Canadian federalism and any recommendations for the CEO on how to work with governments to lead your business through the crisis

After our assignments were done, we sent them to a US professor who analyzed them based on the standards applied in universities and highlighted the essays’ problems. Paper quality criteria included document formatting, integrity, length, mechanics, and reasoning (logic). It should be noted that papers below the 60-point mark would receive low grades in a higher learning institution.

The main categories against which we analyze essay writing services are Value for Money, Overall Experience, and Paper Quality. Paper quality is instrumental to solving problems because customers come to essay writing experts to get their assignments done. That’s why we highlight quality as the key aspect for the best essay service.

SpeedyPaper is a website with more than 1,600 writers and 174,000+ completed orders. Founded in 2014, the company has gained a solid reputation in the custom writing market due to its high professional standards and has become one of the top-rated writing outlets for struggling students.

The two papers that SpeedyPaper writers completed showed the highest paper quality results among all companies in our list. Our US professor gave these texts 86.5/100 pts and 85.3/100 points each, emphasizing outstanding integrity (100% both), reasoning (77% and 90%) and mechanics (89% and 83%). The consistent grade of both papers demonstrates that SpeedyPaper can be a safe go-to for papers of all subjects and complexity levels.

SpeedyPaper doesn’t stay behind in terms of Value for Money and Overall experience as well. It can write papers with deadline flexibility for as low as $9 per page. The average paper price is $44.07 according to our order history. The company offers lots of additional and free services, which, combined with a medium price range, makes it an attractive option for assignment help seekers.

The best-in-class papers put SpeedyPaper at the top of this list, making it our recommended choice for students seeking quality-written assignments.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the papers’ scores:

Being around for more than 10 years, EssayShark quickly transformed into one of the most commonly visited academic websites. Its tireless work has produced more than 1 million completed orders, granting it a firm leadership position in our rating.

EssayShark’s Paper quality was highly rated: 88.2/100 pts. It was written with great attention to integrity (100%), mechanics (90%), and reasoning (85%). The writer also requested more information about us and included this information in the essay.

The second paper received 79 points out of 100, still way above 60, which is considered a low grade in most higher academic institutions. The documents maintained exemplary integrity (100%), mechanics (97%), and reasoning and logic (100%). On the other hand, citation formatting became the weakest point, with a score of 43%.

Such quality can get together with higher-than-average prices. EssayShark charges $12 per page. Its average paper price is $84.5. Nevertheless, that’s the cost of good content, isn’t it?

Still find yourself questioning “is Essay Shark scam?” We can assure that, if you’re looking for a website with a good paper grade and legitimate services, this platform is your bet.

Known for its lasting presence in the academic writing market since 2005, CustomWritings has gained its reputation due to years of providing writing assistance and a diverse customer base. According to Custom writing reviews, its high quality papers, together with other features, allowed us to give this essay writing service the second place in this rating.

CustomWritings showed high results in paper quality, falling behind SpeedyPaper by 1.2 pts. One of the texts received the highest rating of all written assignments we got so far (92.6/100 pts). Our US-based professor praised the personal narrative by highlighting integrity (100%), mechanics (96%), and reasoning (89%). Although the memo to the CEO wasn’t as impressive in terms of mechanics (79%) and reasoning (78%), it maintained a similarly high level of integrity (100%). It received 74.4/100 pts. The writer responsible for completing our personal narrative also asked us to provide more information about ourselves, making the final text much more personalized. The results we got from our writers demonstrate CustomWritings’ ability to meet the needs of many customers.

Besides reaching great scores in Paper quality, the company also excelled in other A*Help characteristics. While the prices at CustomWritings are above average starting at $10 and a medium paper price of $81. It’s worth paying attention to the paper scores and the match of price and quality. The website offers a plethora of additional and free services as a bonus to that.

The highest mark of the personal narrative among all the companies and a reputation on the market make CustomWritings a great choice for various writing goals.

Founded in 2014, CheapestEssay boasts high customer satisfaction ratings and access to dedicated and experienced writers.

Their Paper quality rate is 38.73, and both of the written papers received a high assessment from our American instructor. The first paper, getting 84.4 out of 100 pts, got high marks in integrity (100%), mechanics (90%), and reasoning (73%). The second order got 70.5 out of 100 pts and had comparably appealing integrity (100%), formatting (86%), and mechanics (82%). Communication with the writer could have been improved, though, because, just like some companies, CheapestEssay didn’t ask us for more data to complete the paper better.

Living up truly to its name, CheapestEssay provides one of the best results in the Value for money score. The minimum page price starts at $8.95, and the average order price is $44.07, both being among the lowest in the industry. Students get access to several free additions like the title page and formatting styles to make their lives easier. More paid features include an inexpensive Turnitin report, payment in installments via Klarna, and others.

However, the Overall experience score illustrates that CheapestEssay has a few shortcomings mainly related to the customer-support communication channel.

Getting its fair place among our top players, CheapestEssay offers its customers a great paper quality.

We have included a detailed description of papers’ assessment.

Paper 1. SCORE: 84.4 out of 100 pts. Document formatting is very good, but there is room for improvement. PaperHelp has been around for 14 years already. Provided that positive customer reviews directly relate to brand popularity (and we support this point of view), PaperHelp has successfully gained recognition and built brand awareness.

It is evident that for PaperHelp, quality of a written text is one of its all-important aspects. It demonstrated almost equally delightful results in both papers we ordered from them. The first paper scored 79.8/100 pts, performing well in terms of integrity (100%) and mechanics (86%). The second paper, graded 71.9/100 pts, had identical results in terms of integrity and mechanics and had higher than satisfactory results in reasoning (88%).

The company performed well in terms of Value for money, and Overall experience. The only disadvantage we see is its high prices. PaperHelp charged us $108.29 for the second paper, leaving us a bit disheartened by such a high price. The minimum price per page is $10, and the average payment for the order is $91.35.

If you want a well-written text, you may want to visit PaperHelp and ask them for assignment assistance. And if you are looking for something different, you can also check out Grade Miners review to have another option.

You can read about the detailed paper assessment here.

Since 2015, EduBirdie has been constantly finding ways to improve its service and produce high-quality results. The site has a team of over 450 experts ready to aid exhausted and stressed-out students.

One paper got significantly above the average results, receiving appraisal from our professor; the second one showed satisfactory results as well. Both papers got 83.9/100 pts and 64.7/100 pts, respectively. We found the first text appealing in its integrity (100%) and mechanics (85%). The second order fell behind, but still maintained its integrity (100%) and reasoning (78%). However, it remained pretty close to the dangerous 60-score point where it is considered unsuitable for a college-level paper.

Both Value for money and Overall experience deserved our attention, but EduBirdie doesn’t provide any features for the additional payment and lacks several payment methods. The average price per page is $14, with the medium order price of $72.55. Such a higher-than-average rate can be putting-off for some, especially without any particular discounts.

Is Edubirdie legal? It’s not only a legitimate platform, but also a fantastic choice for people seeking diligently written assignments.

In order to find out more about each criteria, read the breakdown of the papers below.

Undeniably, as the largest academic writing service, EssayPro has reached such heights not by chance. It has been working in the industry for 10 years, and its current position is based on its affordability and high paper quality.

Some may falsely assume that because EssayPro’s prices are among the lowest out there, its papers will show much lower scores, but it’s far from the truth. The first paper was rated 89.7/100 pts, getting top-rate results in integrity (100%), length (100%), mechanics (96%), and reasoning (90%). The same can’t be said about the second paper that scored 58.7/100 pts, scratching the 60-point score from below. The work lacked proper formatting, which greatly decreased its chance to get a competitive result.

With a minimum paper price of $11 and an average order fee of 35.63, EssayPro aims at customers who want to get a low cost quality assistance with their learning needs.

While it’s not the best company if you want more complex papers, like dissertations, to be done well, your simple, college-level essays are safe with EssayPro’s inexpensive writing.

Here’s a detailed analysis of both papers.

Paper 1. SCORE: 89.7 out of 100 pts. Document formatting is very good, but there is room for improvement. StudyBay is a great user-oriented company that tops most of our lists due to its diligently performed tasks and excellent customer support. It has been providing well-written papers for more than 10 years now.

While not the first choice in our score, StudyBay showed medium+ results in Paper quality. The first paper got 88/100 from our professor, scoring A’s in integrity (100%), mechanics (89%), and reasoning (89%). The second paper didn’t stand out as much: its 57.7 out of 100 pts put it below the passable score in our system. The writer should have focused more on formatting (35%), which worsened its general score. It could have been improved with editing.

It scored high in both Value for money and Overall experience. Charging $15 and a 40% service fee, StudyBay has an average order price of $49.50.

It’s safe to say that StudyBay is a good choice for getting writing assistance with tasks of middle-level difficulty.

One of the “younger” services, GoNerdify has quickly become one of the most favorite websites out there. It dutifully saves those students who can’t figure out the way to write the best assignments themselves.

While some aspects of writing excellence aren’t as high-rated as the previous ones, GoNerdify received 79.2/100 and 64.1/100 for its orders. Both had ideal integrity and length (100%), but more should be expected of reasoning (69% vs. 81%) and mechanics (81% vs. 77%). We were also disappointed by their lack of communication with our mystery shoppers in our first order.

Having quite conservative prices starting at $8.67, GoNerdify charged us an average of $88.20 per assignment.

While GoNerdify’s paper quality is satisfactory, its order fee doesn’t quite meet the quality level you can get for lower prices in other companies. Now, you are probably wondering, is Nerdify legit?

Here’s an analysis of each point in these papers.

Paper 1. SCORE: 79.2 out of 100 pts. Document formatting is good, but there is room for improvement. MyAssignmentHelp claims to have more than 5,000 writers and the delivery of more than 2 million orders, being a great pick for those seeking a trustworthy place to ask for study-related services.

Our writing assessment showed that the first paper gained 80.9 out of 100 pts, getting all pluses in integrity (100%), length (100%), and mechanics (83%). Unfortunately, the second order didn’t reach 60 points, lagging behind with just 58.6 out of 100 pts. Poor formatting (50%) and not high enough rates in reasoning (72%) and mechanics (76%) didn’t let it reach a similar level.

Like some other lower-priced websites, MyAssignmentHelp triumphed in our score in Value for money. Its average $40 price, combined with the loyalty and discount programs, make it a great inexpensive choice for simple papers.

So, what’s the verdict? Is Myassignmenthelp legit? Notwithstanding its last place in our top 10, MyAssignmentHelp still produces medium-quality papers at a bargain price.

Quick Overview

Ground News doesn’t position itself as a fact-checking website, but it is not a distinction an average user might easily make. The site helps readers escape algorithm-driven news consumption by aggregating articles from over 50,000 sources worldwide. It allows users to compare coverage to get a broader perspective on current events through media bias analysis. Unlike traditional fact-checking sites, Ground News doesn’t verify individual claims but provides bias assessments based on a publication’s overall political leanings.

The Good
  • Verdict based on credible websites
  • Sleek site design
The Bad
  • Technically not a fact-checker
  • Evaluation partially paywalled

The site is visually appealing and easy to navigate. The immediate main sorting of users into two political categories might be jarring and seemingly counter-productive to the Ground News mission statement, but it is eye-catching. The platform evaluates sources based on social presence and ownership transparency, as well as how long they’ve been around. It also checks how frequently they align with reputable outlets. Ground News doesn’t claim to be the final judge of truth. Instead, it highlights patterns in reporting to show how different outlets frame the news. Users can access its features through a browser extension and newsletters.

Ground News Review 2025

Value for Money 17/40 ⭐⭐: Ground News is a Starting Point for Your Research

Ground News explains its methodology well. It determines media bias by averaging ratings from three independent organizations: All Sides, Ad Fontes Media, and Media Bias Fact Check. These groups assess bias through editorial reviews and independent research. The analysis follows the U.S. political spectrum and evaluates entire publications rather than individual articles. If a source lacks ratings from one or more organizations, Ground News averages the available scores.

Ground News Review 2025

Bias ratings appear with summaries of political leanings, but Ground News doesn’t offer a neutral stance. If a story is only covered by sources on one side of the spectrum, comparisons become difficult (more on this later). Since bias ratings apply to whole publications rather than individual stories, some users find this method limiting. While Ground News provides a breakdown of bias distribution across outlets, it does not independently verify facts or issue corrections.

An interesting effort Ground News offers is Blindspot, which strives to shine a light on stories that “circulate in online echo chambers”: news with “political undertones” and disproportionate coverage on one side of the political spectrum. This aligns with the site’s mission of breaching algorithmic info bubbles.

Ground News Review 2025

Ground News operates on a subscription-based model, free from ad revenue (linked external news sources may still contain ads or paywalls). Understandably, the subscription promotion on the site is strong. Less understandably, some crucial information is paywalled as an incentive to subscribe, which can be annoying, and there is a limit of 5 free articles per day. The company is funded by independent investors (undisclosed on the website) with no ties to corporate media, big tech, or governments. Most of its revenue comes from community-supported subscriptions, but no fiscal reports are available.

Ground News states that it is run by “a small, Ontario-based team of 18 people”, co-founded by Harleen Kaur (a former NASA engineer) and Sukh Singh (formerly of Bain & Company). This is a somewhat less transparent net affiliation/ownership disclosure compared to other websites A*Help reviewed. The company, however, emphasizes that it has no political agenda and aggregates content across the entire spectrum to present diverse viewpoints.

13/20
Clear Methodology
4/20
Transparency

Overall Experience 36/60 ⭐⭐: Ground News Doesn’t Suit Every Situation

Ground News does not use a simple true/false rating like fact-checking sites. Instead, it provides comparative bias assessments for different news outlets covering the same topic. Bias distributions are available, but conclusions on the factuality of data (and source ownership) require a paid subscription — far from ideal. On top of that, if an event is only reported by sources with similar leanings, a balanced comparison is not possible.

Ground News Review 2025

How this works (or doesn’t) is as follows. When a coverage bias of a certain situation is discussed, Ground News provides an AI summary of the information at the top of every post. But these bullet points can only appear if there is enough of said coverage. As a result, if the coverage is biased and not enough of it comes from sources on the varying ends of the political spectrum, alternative summaries and bias comparisons cannot be generated for the lack of data — and are simply not provided. How effective such a method of presentation can really be is questionable.

Ground News Review 2025

The AI-generated summaries do not include a separate list of sources, but references are linked throughout. The articles included in the coverage bias evaluation are listed below and can be sorted by political bias. Users can suggest news sources for inclusion and track their requests (a neat feature). But they cannot ask for fact-checks or changes to bias ratings. There’s no comment section on the Ground News website, but users can reach out via social media or email. A Help Center is available for submitting feedback and managing subscriptions.

The Verdict

Ground News is a platform for analyzing media bias and comparing news coverage across different political perspectives. While it does not fact-check individual claims, when its bias tracking system applies, it offers insights for those looking to navigate modern news consumption. However, its subscription model restricts access to more detailed features, and the lack of article-level bias ratings may be a drawback for those craving a more granular approach. We would recommend it as a starting point for your research, but it should by no means be your final or only resource for forming an opinion or a paper outline.

MBFC provides a Media News Daily section with journalism-related news updates and Daily Vetted Fact Checks — compilations sourced from verified organizations only. These go through additional inspection to double-check their credibility. When MBFC disagrees with the original fact-checkers, they provide alternative ratings. In short, MBFC is a watchdog, “fact-checking the fact-checkers”, as they have put it, to keep an eye on bias in media.

Media Bias Fact Check Review 2025

Value for Money 37/40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Is MBFC Worth Your Time?

MBFC follows a structured methodology to rate sources. They incorporate diverse references including peer-reviewed research, journal articles, and reputable international media outlets. Evaluations are based on a mix of objective metrics and subjective analysis, following MBFC’s outlined methodology. The site acknowledges that said methodology is U.S.-centric, which is a plus to its transparency but knocks some points off. The database lists media sources from around the world, after all, and the regional context should be taken into account.

Media Bias Fact Check Review 2025

While MBFC provides brief contextual explanations for its ratings, it does not always trace false claims in detail. Some users might miss in-depth breakdowns. It’s harder for casual readers to follow the journey of a misleading claim from its origin to its correction. Then again, it’s not the goal of the site, and you can click through to the original article with more detailed information.

MBFC acknowledges that mistakes happen and offers a correction process. Users can report factual errors to the editor, and significant changes — like reclassifications of sources due to ownership changes — are logged on a dedicated page

Media Bias Fact Check Review 2025

MBFC is 100% independent and does not accept funding from corporations, political parties, or advocacy groups. Revenue sources are disclosed on the site and include: third-party ads based on user search history and web content (35%), donations including PayPal and Patreon with tiers from $2 to $10 per month (5%), and paid memberships (65%). Users can become ad-free members with subscriptions ranging from $3 to $5 per month. While advertising makes up a significant portion of its revenue, MBFC argues that third-party ad selection helps maintain neutrality — understandable. The site doesn’t directly control which ads appear on it.

Founded in 2015, MBFC operates as an independent site dedicated to exposing media bias and misinformation. The website is run by Dave Van Zandt, along with a team of volunteers and contractors who research and maintain the database.

Overall Experience 50/60 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: MBFC Makes Sure You Know Were Your Info Comes From

MBFC presents vetted fact-checks in a table format with visual indicators to highlight the legitimacy of claims. It is very easy for users to quickly assess the information’s credibility.

Media Bias Fact Check Review 2025

MBFC categorizes media sources by political bias, ranging from Extreme Left or Extreme Right to Least Biased. It also includes informative categories like Questionable, Conspiracy-Pseudoscience, and Satire. Additionally, separate sources (including individual politicians) are ranked on a vertical Factual Rating scale from Factual Reporting to Very Low. This layered classification might confuse you at first, but it provides a nuanced view of a source’s reliability and proves very handy once you get the gist of it.

Media Bias Fact Check Review 2025

MBFC integrates citations within the text rather than listing them separately at the end. Users can submit news sources for evaluation, but the website sets clear guidelines: sources must have a legitimate website and be related to politics. Facebook pages or groups without external verification are not accepted.

MBFC encourages community participation: you can suggest corrections and engage in discussions right under the articles in an open comment section, no matter how dead it is.

The Verdict

Media Bias Fact Check is a reliable fact-checking resource that provides structured bias ratings and factual accuracy assessments. Its independent funding model and clear methodology add to its credibility. While it offers strong verdict displays and transparent financing, some areas — like deeper misinformation tracing, design, and bibliographies — could improve. If you’re looking for a straightforward tool to check bias and media credibility, MBFC is worth using.

FAQ

What is media bias?

Media bias refers to the perceived or real partiality in news reporting, where outlets may lean toward certain political or ideological interests. Bias can be present in story selection, the wording used in headings and articles, or the framing of presented information.

Is Media Bias Fact Check accurate?

MBFC follows a detailed methodology and cross-references reputable sources. However, as with any fact-checker, subjectivity can be involved, particularly in bias ratings.

Is Media Bias Fact Check liberal?

MBFC does not align with any political party. It evaluates media across the spectrum, including both left- and right-leaning sources. Some critics argue that bias labeling can be subjective.

Is Media Bias Fact Check reliable?

After conducting our research, we say: yes, it is. MBFC uses credible sources and multiple layers of verification to assess bias and accuracy. While it has limitations, it is one of the most detailed bias-rating platforms available.

Quick Overview

PolitiFact is a fact-checking website founded originally in 2007 as a project of the Tampa Bay Times. It has since evolved into a fully independent entity under the nonprofit Poynter Institute. Its main principles are transparency, fairness, and thorough investigative journalism. Using its signature Truth-O-Meter, PolitiFact rates the accuracy of political statements to help citizens access well-researched information.

With various state-level and topic-specific offshoots, such as PunditFact, Politifact aims to hold politicians and public figures accountable for their claims. It has expanded its reach through partnerships with media outlets across different states to support localized fact-checking efforts.

PolitiFact Review 2025

Value for Money 40/40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Will PolitiFact Be Useful To You?

PolitiFact relies on a structured methodology to assess statements, using three rating systems. Truth-O-Meter rates political statements on a scale from “True” to “Pants on Fire.” Flip-O-Meter measures changes in political positions over time — which, please note, isn’t always a bad thing. Campaign Promise Tracker follows politicians’ commitments to see whether they follow through.

Each fact-check includes an in-depth explanation with cited sources. Readers will get a clear understanding of the context behind each rating. The methodology is designed to be thorough, with reporters gathering statements, consulting experts, and cross-referencing multiple primary and secondary sources before issuing a final verdict.

PolitiFact Review 2025

Unlike simple “true or false” verdicts, PolitiFact explores the history behind each fact and surrounding narratives. A more nuanced look at statements gives readers a fuller picture rather than an oversimplified answer. Articles often include background information on political issues, helping people understand not just what was said but why it matters.

The corrections policy is transparent, and there is a separate tab for corrections and updates. Readers can report mistakes via email or contact an individual reporter. Corrections might be implemented in these categories: major errors of fact; errors of fact; typos, grammatical errors, misspellings; updates; and explanatory editor’s notes.

PolitiFact Review 2025

As for funding: PolitiFact, as we mentioned, operates under the nonprofit Poynter Institute and relies on grants, donations, paid memberships, and partnerships for funding.

The site accepts one-time donations and discloses donations over $1000. Paid members (called the Truth Squad, adorable) in the same tier get recognition on the donor page: you’ll be listed as an Invested member. Membership has 3 tiers, starting with $50 per year. Financial information is readily available on the website. For example, in 2024 the platform received almost $500,000 from individual donors, over $300,00 from foundations (each named individually with exact sums listed), and $20,000 from the Google News Initiative.

PolitiFact Review 2025

PolitiFact does not accept funding from political campaigns, government entities, or advocacy groups to keep its independence, as it now operates as a national nonprofit news organization. It also partners with various media outlets, such as the Austin American-Statesman and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, to expand its fact-checking reach. Additionally, PolitiFact collaborates with major tech companies to improve fact-checking accessibility on social media platforms (including Meta and TikTok).

Overall Experience 54/60 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: PolitiFact Does What It Says On The Tin

Each fact-check clearly states a verdict using the Truth-O-Meter. However, the design of the meter on the fact-check page itself can sometimes appear like an ad banner, making it slightly less intuitive at first glance — it is placed on the right side of the article’s body text and doesn’t fit in aesthetically (point off! Though it does work well on the main feed). A better integrated modern design would improve usability. The short-and-sweet “Our ruling” summary is placed at the bottom of the article: a kind of compromise between enticing users to read the text and keeping them guessing.

PolitiFact’s rating system is not as detailed as some but still includes a good variety between True and Pants on Fire (used for outright fabrications). It offers a fair level of granularity. Readers can differentiate between minor inaccuracies and outright misinformation. Some might argue that the middle ratings (such as “Half True”) can feel subjective, but the A*Help team disagrees.

PolitiFact Review 2025

PolitiFact scores additional points for separate categories on each popular social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X), where the posts from that specific source are fact-checked. These tabs feature a Scorecard with verdict statistics visually represented on the PolitiFact scale. Neat! Another perk is the option to navigate the site by People (Donald Trump, Joe Biden, etc.) and Issues (like online hoaxes, Coronavirus, marijuana, guns, LGBTQ+, and more).

Fact-checks include a separate section at the end listing all sources used, which helps readers verify the original information without interrupting the article flow. References and citations are also embedded throughout the articles to corroborate PolitiFact’s statements. This way, you can engage with primary sources directly.

PolitiFact allows users to submit claims for fact-checking and report potential inaccuracies. It does not have a public commenting system but offers direct communication through memberships. Higher-tier subscribers ($250–999 per year) gain access to a closed Facebook group where they can discuss topics with staff members.

Contacting PolitiFact is also straightforward, with public email addresses and phone numbers available for inquiries and feedback. The lack of a public comment section may limit broader discussion, but is, understandably, often a necessary evil for political websites.

The Verdict

PolitiFact is a solid source for political fact-checking in 2025. It maintains transparency in funding, lists a clear methodology, and claims to hold a strong commitment to journalistic integrity. The site is user-friendly, though the Truth-O-Meter design could use some tune-up. While PolitiFact does a commendable job of fact-checking political statements, the middle-ground ratings could benefit from additional clarification to address criticism of subjectivity. Expanding its community engagement features could also improve the user experience. We at A*Help are not fans of closed groups. Let us in!

Washington Post Fact Checker Review 2025

Value for Money 30/40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Does Washington Post Fact Checker Deliver?

Washington Post Fact Checker prioritizes newsworthy topics, especially ones related to domestic and international policy. To help the readers understand the subject matter and navigate politically charged debates, the team evaluates claims in broader contexts instead of focusing on minor errors. Fact Checker provides context that is often missing from mainstream coverage by analyzing both sweeping and granular claims.

Washington Post Fact Checker Review 2025

Unlike some fact-checking organizations that target news media, the Washington Post Fact Checker primarily focuses on politicians, policy influencers, and lobbying organizations. While it does occasionally fact-check misleading news reports, its primary goal is holding those in power accountable. This approach, in theory, should keep their efforts relevant and impactful for a long time.

The Fact Checker follows The Washington Post’s corrections policy to openly acknowledge and rectify errors. Readers can request a correction via email or phone, and any adjustments will be clearly labeled at the bottom of the article.

Washington Post Fact Checker Review 2025

Fact Checker is funded by The Washington Post, which is owned by Jeff Bezos — the executive chairman of Amazon. In 2018, the platform received a $250,000 grant from Google News Initiative/YouTube to expand video fact-checking. While this funding raises questions about independence, the team emphasizes its commitment to unbiased reporting and claims to maintain editorial control over its content. Compared to other fact-checking websites A*Help reviewed, however, this setup is tangibly less transparent.

Overall Experience 43/60 ⭐⭐⭐: Is Washington Post Fact Checker’s Nose Growing?

Instead of a simple true/false rating, The Fact Checker uses its signature Pinocchio Test. Some claims are graded on a scale of one to four Pinocchios, representing varying degrees of falsehood. The team provides detailed explanations behind each rating, and the scale breakdown is linked in every article it’s applied to. Some assigned Pinocchios are displayed in the feed, but that’s not the case for all of the articles. On the article’s webpage, they’re located underneath the text alongside TL;DR (presumably, to entice readers at to scim the text, at least). This is not ideal — in A*Help’s opinion, they would work better at the top. That said, the consensus is often communicated well enough through the article title’s tone alone.

Washington Post Fact Checker Review 2025

The Fact Checker integrates its sources throughout its articles rather than listing them separately at the end. Whenever possible, links to primary sources are included, allowing readers to verify claims on their own.

There is a comment section under each article, open only to logged-in subscribers. Users can rate the comments of others in four categories: Clarifying, New to me, Provocative, and Thoughtful. At the top of each discussion, the site provides “Highlights”: a brief AI-generated summary of the comment section and a couple of comments with the most ratings in each category, when applicable. After a certain point, the discussion closes for everyone. An interesting way to approach online discussion. A bit of gatekeeping, but that could have a moderative  purpose, too.

Washington Post Fact Checker Review 2025

Users can submit claims for fact-checking (“statements, speeches, quotes, and figures that don’t quite pass muster”) via a digital form or an email. They can also send in anonymous news tips through secure channels like Signal, Secure Drop, regular post, or encrypted email. Readers can engage with the team on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #FactCheckThis.

The Verdict

The Washington Post Fact Checker is by now a well-established fact-checking platform that seems methodologically sound. Its commitment to correction transparency and detailed explanations make it a reliable resource for verifying political claims — it shouldn’t be your first choice for unrelated topics (it operates under the “Politics” tab, after all) but will work great for PoliSci academic works. While the Pinocchio scale introduces some subjectivity, the site mitigates this by thoroughly explaining its ratings. The Pinocchios are not added under every article in the feed, so you cannot always know the verdict at a glance. It is wise to keep the Fact Checker’s association with The Washington Post in mind when you’re using it, alongside the team’s claims of editorial independence. Overall, the Fact Checker is a valuable tool when you need to separate fact from fiction in political statements.

Snopes began operations in 2014 as a site dedicated to investigating urban legends under the name Urban Legends Reference Pages. It is currently one of the most recognized fact-checking websites, relied on by journalists and readers for accurate information. As the oldest and largest platform of its kind, it operates independently under Snopes Media Group Inc. and has been co-owned 50:50 by Chris Richmond and Drew Schoentrup since 2022. The site adheres to the standards set by the International Fact-Checking Network to help combat misinformation. Since Snopes cannot verify every claim, it prioritizes widely circulated rumors and trending topics that may lead to confusion or misinformation.

Quick Overview

FactCheck.org positions itself as a resource for voters, working to cut through the noise and misinformation in U.S. politics. They keep an eye on major political figures, fact-checking public statements (so, info presented in ads and news releases or things said during debates and interviews). Their approach combines journalistic methods with academic research to help the public better understand political issues. FactCheck.org operates under the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. APPC was founded by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg in 1993 and brings scholars together to “study public policy at local, state, and federal levels.”

Snopes has a minimalistic, user-friendly interface and is easy to navigate. There is nothing to trim; even the abundant ads, we must realize, are there to keep the site going. A separate tab dedicated to debunking scientific misinformation would be welcome on such a reputable platform, but its absence is understandable on a site that focuses more on what’s buzzing currently in politics and entertainment. And that Snopes does well: it immediately greets you with headlines you’ve already seen and overheard discussed in group chats and around the water cooler. After clicking on one, you’ll be able to contribute to such discussions confidently and will leave with links for additional reading — optional, of course, but highly recommended.

Snopes Fact Checker Review 2025

Value for Money 40/40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Do Snopes Know What They’re Doing?

Snopes includes a quick context summary for each fact and rumor they evaluate right underneath the verdict graphic at the top of the page. Below, the team presents their findings in greater detail. If an image is involved, they investigate its origin. The language used in the articles is digestible for an average user. If the fact is partially true, Snopes deconstructs exactly where things went wrong on the path information took toward virality. For example, they will remark that a photo is legitimate, but at a certain point, it was miscaptioned.

Snopes Fact Checker Review 2025

Snopes explains how they select which facts to look into and how they approach research. To maintain neutrality, the site chooses reliable data sources: peer-reviewed journals, government statistics, etc. Snopes gets additional points for advising its readers to approach any information from political advocacy groups or partisan think tanks with skepticism when it’s referenced.

The correction policy is laid out well and, in addition to errors, covers “ambiguous statements”. If anything is off, readers can request to fix it via a contact form an editor will then evaluate. As is the rule with all IFCN members, readers can also file a complaint if they notice any violations, but are invited to address Snopes directly first.

As we mentioned, Snopes remains editorially independent under Snopes Media Group Inc., with no outside investors or parent company, and makes its calendar year reports available on the site. The site’s funding comes from three main sources: donations from individuals and non-partisan organizations, paid memberships, and digital ads.

Snopes Fact Checker Review 2025

Advertisers have no way to contact or influence the Snopes staff, and political advertisement is not accepted. Donors who contribute $10,000 and over (or, in sum, donated more than 5% of the site’s total annual revenue) are publicly disclosed. The funding is primarily used to pay the Snopes team and keep the lights on, so to speak. A more detailed expense breakdown is also presented on the site. And that’s plenty transparent in A*Help’s book!

Overall Experience 55/60 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Snopes Will Keep Your Info Space Pristine

Snope provides a clear visual for the verdict they’ve reached during their research, which is very important in the modern age of diminishing attention spans. The verdict scale is also very detailed and features unique categories like Originated as Satire, Labeled Satire, Lost Legend, Misattributed, Miscaptioned, etc. These labels give users a lot of important context at a glance and it would be great to see them adopted on other fact-checking websites.

Snopes Fact Checker Review 2025

Every fact-check article includes a “Sources” section listing all referenced materials, which readers can expand. If Snopes contacts an individual or organization for clarification, those details are included within the article rather than in the sources list itself. Embedded media — like YouTube videos and social media posts — are not listed separately because they are mostly included for additional information.

Readers can ask Snopes to fact-check their findings and are welcome to include “articles, social media posts, or images” in the request form — there’s an “Add File” button. No comment section on the site, but you can comment on Snopes social media or chat with fellow readers in their Facebook group.

Snopes Fact Checker Review 2025

Paid members are promised exclusive access to “Snopes Community” described as “a community of like-minded people who value fact-checking” where members can “see topics that Snopes is researching before they are published and have the option to help track down information to review for fact checks”. Though such exclusivity is a good perk when paid memberships finance your operation, it knocks some points off for Snopes in the Community Engagement category.

The Verdict

Snopes is among the best fact-checking websites currently available for users. It might not cover every burning topic on your mind, but with prolonged use, you will become savvy enough to recognize disinformation patterns on your own. We recommend this site for cross-checking any factoids you’d like to include in your academic papers. Snopes will clear things up for you, both if you need a quick clarification or a detailed breakdown, and its transparency and information evaluation scale are exemplary at the present time.

FAQ

What is Snopes?

Snopes is a fact-checking website that investigates trending rumors and misinformation. It started in the 1990s investigating hoaxes and urban legends and has since become a popular choice for verifying claims on social media, news, and pop culture. It covers politics, entertainment, and other topics to clarify misleading information.

Who owns Snopes?

Snopes is owned by Snopes Media Group, which was co-founded by David Mikkelson. Over the years, the company has faced ownership disputes, and Mikkelson resigned as CEO in 2022 following accusations of plagiarism. Snopes Media Group is now equally owned by Chris Richmond and Drew Schoentrup. The website functions as an independent organization that generates revenue through advertising and reader donations.

Is Snopes reliable?

Snopes is widely regarded as a reliable fact-checking resource, which is the conclusion A*Help team came to, as well. The research process described on the site is thorough, and the sources used to verify or debunk claims are top quality. However, as with any media outlet, readers should take everything with a grain of salt. While Snopes strives for accuracy, occasional errors or biases can occur, and it’s best to cross-check with multiple fact-checking platforms.

If you ever read something online that made you cock your head and do a double-take, you’re not losing your mind. The world is. Trust your gut: the internet is boiling with information of dubious quality. Which is exactly why sites like FactCheck.org exist. This nonprofit, nonpartisan fact-checking organization wants to keep things honest and free from outside influence. And so do we!

APPC was founded by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg in 1993 and brings scholars together to “study public policy at local, state, and federal levels.

The Good

The site’s clean and simple design is easy to navigate. However, due to the specifics of FactCheck’s research methods and operations, it doesn’t exactly mark the published material as “X said Y: we rate it as FALSE”. There are no supporting graphics with the verdict and often no TL;DR, either. Though the article titles (and occasionally thumbnails) can be self-explanatory in this regard, we do not recommend FactCheck if you need an instant answer — bar the Viral Spiral tab. It’s a resource to sit over as you drink your morning coffee and dig into the intricacies. Though an enriching experience, it doesn’t fit every occasion.

Value for Money 40/40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Does FactCheck.org Deliver?

Factcheck.org Review 2025

FactCheck.org clearly explains how it selects and researches topics, which grants the site full marks from A*Help team. It also claims to apply the same accuracy standards across the board, no matter which side of the political spectrum is involved. The editing policy is disclosed; any changes to the original post are marked on the page when applicable. If you think the site got something wrong, you can request a correction or a clarification via email. And if you notice some violations of the International Fact-Checking Network’s principles, a formal way to file a complaint is linked on the site.

Factcheck.org Review 2025

The context around each fact on trial is thoroughly explored. You can follow the journey information went on before reaching FactCheck, thanks to the team’s research. However, this same aspect decidedly puts the site into the longread category, even if “in a nutshell” section happens to be included at the start (which isn’t always the case). FactCheck.org is not the solution when you only have a second to spare.

FactCheck.org isn’t limited to political claims, either. It has a section dedicated to fact-checking scientific topics. If you prefer reading in Spanish, they’ve got versions of articles available in that language as well. The site hosts resources to uplift media literacy in online users: basic educational articles on how to avoid misinformation, separate tabs on debunking viral claims, including those made about COVID-19 vaccination, and internet rumors (especially effective, because it is presented as a list of bite-sized conclusions).

As for financing, the site doesn’t take money from unions, political groups, or advocacy organizations to, as previously stated, avoid outside influence. Their donors have zero say in what gets fact-checked, and all financial details are publicly available, right down to listing individual donors who contribute over $1,000. FactCheck goes as far as to provide financial disclosure by fiscal year and quarter.

Factcheck.org Review 2025

FactChecker.org is a part of third-party fact-checking programs with Meta, Google, and YouTube to “combat the spread of viral deceptions.” Considering this fact, most funding for the site comes from the APPC Endowment, Meta, Google, and individual donors. You, too, can become one — donations are one-time or monthly and go through the University of Pennsylvania. But worry not — your contribution won’t be funding university coffee runs. Every dollar stays within FactCheck.org to help them continue their work.

The Verdict

FactCheck presents the research in an approachable way: it is not a slog to get through. The articles are interesting, even if the topic is not in your wheelhouse, and the information is laid out well — you won’t lose the narrative thread out of boredom. You also won’t be left confused: if the statement you came to look up is false, you will not only get the message but will gain an understanding of why it is so. At the same time, like many other fact-checking sites online, FactCheck simply cannot cover every possible quote or occurrence, so you may find yourself left high and dry. Still, they do try to deal with the most hot-button issues flying around.

FactCheck is a quality source to burst your bubble with facts, but it is better suited for when you have some time to educate yourself — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The absence of eye-catching infographics still knocks its score down a notch, though.

Where to Find Science Research Ideas

Exploring Current Scientific Literature

To uncover fresh research ideas, conducting a literature review is important. This process involves closely examining existing research papers and scientific journals for ideas and inspiration. By sifting through articles, you can identify gaps in the current understanding of a topic, recognize trends, and explore emerging fields. For instance, examining recent studies in design engineering reveals various methodologies and approaches, from qualitative research to experimental studies, offering multiple angles to consider for your own research (Escudero-Mancebo et al., 2023).

Scientific journals not only present findings but also highlight the methods employed, which can spark ideas for your investigations. Engaging with diverse topics from different disciplines can broaden your perspective and motivate you to explore intersections between fields.

After reviewing literature, researchers often find it beneficial to share their ideas and findings with peers, fostering collaboration and feedback. This is where academic conferences come into play. Participating in these events allows researchers to present their work, gain insights from others, and discuss innovative concepts. Conferences serve as a platform for networking, where exchanging ideas can lead to exciting new research directions. Transitioning from the literature review stage to engaging in conferences can significantly enhance the quality and impact of your research journey.

Engaging with Academic Conferences

Engaging with academic conferences offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow researchers and uncover fresh ideas for your work. These gatherings serve as platforms for networking, allowing you to meet experts in your field and learn about the latest research trends. Through conversations over coffee breaks or during informal sessions, you can share insights and discuss common interests, which may spark new research questions or collaborations. Presentations at conferences not only showcase the latest findings but also provide a backdrop for dialogue among attendees. These discussions can highlight gaps in research, suggesting areas where further exploration is needed.

Moreover, conferences often bring together diverse perspectives, making them ideal for gathering innovative ideas. By observing presentations and engaging in discussions, you can identify emerging trends that may inform your own research direction. The informal nature of unconferences, for example, encourages participants to share their thoughts freely, creating an environment conducive to brainstorming and collaboration (Budd et al., 2015). This lively interaction can lead to valuable exchanges of knowledge that enhance your understanding of your field.

As you participate in these events, remember that the insights gained are just the start. The next step is to utilize online research databases to dive deeper into the topics you've encountered, allowing you to further explore and solidify your research ideas.

Utilizing Online Research Databases

When searching for science research ideas, utilizing online research databases can significantly enhance your resource gathering (Oyeboade et al., 2023). These databases are organized collections of academic materials that provide access to scholarly articles, journals, and other essential documents. Unlike general search engines, which may return a mix of reliable and unreliable sources, academic databases focus on peer-reviewed content, offering a more dependable foundation for your research. Popular databases include JSTOR, PubMed, and Google Scholar, each catering to different fields and types of research.

By leveraging these databases, you can efficiently filter through extensive collections of academic resources tailored to your specific interests. This targeted approach saves time and helps you discover relevant studies that might inspire new research questions or ideas. For instance, if you’re exploring environmental science, searching within specialized databases can lead you to recent findings that can shape your research direction.

Moreover, it’s important to remember that the search process involves more than just entering keywords. Understanding how to use various search techniques—such as Boolean operators—can significantly improve your results. This strategic searching not only sharpens your focus but also prepares you for future collaboration with professors and mentors, who can guide you in interpreting the findings and refining your research questions based on established literature.

Collaborating with Professors and Mentors

Collaborating with professors and mentors is an essential step for anyone looking to generate new ideas in scientific research. When you engage with experienced professionals, you gain access to their mentorship, guidance, and expertise, which can shape your understanding of complex topics. Mentors often provide a broader perspective on current trends and methodologies, helping you refine your research questions and identify promising areas for exploration. Their insights can spark innovative thoughts and approach problems from angles you may not have considered.

Furthermore, building relationships with faculty can open doors to collaborative projects, allowing you to share ideas and resources. This teamwork fosters an environment where creative thinking flourishes, as diverse viewpoints contribute to richer discussions and discoveries. By tapping into the knowledge and experience of established researchers, you can better navigate the academic landscape and avoid common pitfalls.

Through these collaborations, you may also uncover gaps in existing research. As you discuss your ideas with mentors, they might highlight unanswered questions or overlooked areas that are ripe for investigation. This natural progression from seeking guidance to identifying research gaps ensures a seamless transition to the next phase of your academic journey, where you can explore these uncharted territories with confidence.(Creber et al., 2019)

Identifying Gaps in Existing Research

Identifying gaps in existing research is essential for developing effective science research ideas. By conducting a critical analysis of the current literature, researchers can uncover areas that lack sufficient exploration or where questions remain unanswered. This process often highlights specific problems that need solving, such as misunderstandings in complex concepts or the need for innovative methods in teaching. For instance, many studies have pointed out difficulties in learning abstract subjects like chemistry, particularly the reaction rate concepts (Widarti et al., 2023). However, there is still a lack of research focusing on integrating modern learning tools, such as social media, into chemistry education.

Identifying these gaps not only aids in formulating relevant research questions but also sets the stage for applying theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios. This alignment of education with real-world problems can significantly enhance students' learning experiences and critical thinking skills. Once these gaps are recognized, researchers can seek opportunities to develop solutions and innovative approaches.

Transitioning from identifying research gaps, another effective way to refine your research ideas is by participating in science competitions. These events often challenge participants to address real-world issues, providing a platform to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a competitive environment. Engaging in such competitions can spark new ideas and approaches to unresolved questions, ultimately advancing scientific inquiry.

Participating in Science Competitions

Participating in science competitions offers a unique opportunity for students to showcase their innovation and creativity. These events encourage individuals to tackle challenging problems and develop original solutions, often pushing the boundaries of their knowledge and skills. Through team collaboration, participants not only enhance their understanding of scientific concepts but also learn to communicate their ideas effectively. This experience is invaluable, as it fosters a spirit of competition that drives participants to think outside the box and explore new ideas (Liu, 2024).

Moreover, competitions provide a platform for students to connect with peers and mentors who share similar interests. Engaging in this environment sparks inspiration and encourages participants to consider diverse perspectives in their approach to scientific inquiry. The feedback received from judges and peers can serve as a catalyst for further exploration, igniting a passion for research that extends beyond the competition itself.

As students refine their projects for these competitions, they often identify real-world problems that need solutions. This leads to a natural transition into exploring these issues further, as the insights gained during the competition can guide future research endeavors. By tackling significant challenges in society, students can apply their creativity and innovative thinking to develop impactful solutions, thus bridging the gap between academic pursuits and practical applications.

It offers an aesthetically pleasing and convenient design, the ability to collaborate with friends and colleagues on notes, and the opportunity to decorate your memos with custom-made sketches and drawings. Notability Review 2025

Value for Money 10/20 ⭐⭐: Pricing Plans

Notability is a versatile app that caters to users who love combining notes with creativity. For iOS users, it’s a treat—offering the ability to collaborate on notes while incorporating custom sketches and drawings. However, the exclusivity to iOS and the lack of premade templates might make some hesitate. Just make sure you have a graphic tablet handy to get the most out of it. You can use Notability for free or subscribe to the Pro plan for only $2.99 per month (or $14.99/year). However, it is also necessary to add, that you can’t really find out the pricing on their website beforehand; they just state it’s “free to use” and then immediately present their Pro Plan features, again, without any concrete pricing. To be honest, this is a bit misleading.

Overall Experience 60/80 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: How Useful Is the App

Using Notability is definitely for people who strive on creativity and prefer to have some diversity in how they want to visually present information. The app shines brightest when used for visual projects, letting users create stunning, personalized memos. Seamless synchronization allows you to continue making notes anywhere, and Notability works perfectly with different formats, for example, images or graphics.

The Bottom Line

Notability is perfect for creative people. Each note is like a canvas that is ready to be customized with your brush, and it is simple to effortlessly create small masterpieces for talented writers. Notability gets 70/100 on the AHelp score, which makes it a decent note-keeping app among all competitors. However, it is definitely not the best choice for average users, because there are apps that are more superior in storing your memos—and don’t forget that Notability is available only for iOS devices.

FAQ

What are the downsides of Notability?

Notability is iOS-exclusive, lacks premade templates, and relies heavily on a graphic tablet for optimal use.

Quick Overview

Nebo is more a graphic editor than a note keeper, but a lot of people tend to use it for storing memos—so we have decided to include Nebo in our mystery shopping list. The main advantage of this app is interactive, customizable canvases, where you can write, draw, or add tables and visuals. The best way to work in Nebo is via a graphic tablet, which allows you to be creative and decorate each note as a fancy page from the personal diary. In our opinion, Nebo is a great option for doing creative projects, but there are better choices if you are looking for a reliable and simple note-keeping app.

The Good
  • Swift and simple
  • Good for creative projects
  • Can convert handwriting to text
The Bad
  • No premade templates
  • No export feature
  • Bad for creating complex note systems

Nebo App Review 2025

Value for Money 0/20 ⭐: Is Nebo Worth It?

Nebo positions itself as a unique option for note-taking, especially for creative individuals. The app isn’t the most affordable choice out there, but it does offer a variety of features that could justify its price if your needs align with what it provides. The standout feature is its interactive canvases, allowing users to write, sketch, or create tables with ease. While these tools are fantastic for artistic and creative projects, Nebo lacks certain practical features like premade templates or an export option, which might make it less appealing for those who want a straightforward note-keeping solution. You can check Nebo out with their free trial and decide whether you want to pay $9.99 per month for it or not.

Overall Experience 45/80 ⭐⭐⭐: Using Nebo

Using Nebo is akin to having a blank canvas at your disposal—in a literal sense. If you own a graphic tablet, you’re in for a delightful experience. The handwriting-to-text conversion is smooth and works well, making the app feel modern and intuitive. However, the lack of more structured tools, such as templates or complex organizational features, might frustrate users looking to build a systemized note archive. Navigating the app is easy, and its clean interface is a big plus, but it’s clear Nebo shines brightest when used as a creative workspace rather than a conventional note keeper.

The Bottom Line on Nebo

Depending on your preferences, Nebo offers a variety of features. It’s ideal for those who prioritize creativity and visual expression in their notes. If you need a tool to make detailed, artistic memos or interactive designs, it’s a fantastic pick. However, if your primary focus is functionality, structure, and practicality, you might want to look elsewhere. The app gets only 45/100 on the AHelp score, so it is not suitable for everyone.

FAQ

Is Nebo worth the price?

Nebo is worth it for creative users, but practical note-takers might find better alternatives like GoodNotes or OneNote.

Which is better, GoodNotes or Nebo?

GoodNotes is better for organizing and structuring notes, while Nebo excels in creative projects with its interactive and customizable canvases.

Is Nebo better than OneNote?

Nebo is just ideal for creativity and visuals; OneNote is superior for organizing, sharing, and building complex note systems.

Is Nebo a safe app?

Yes, Nebo is safe to use, but always review app permissions and storage policies for additional security reassurance.

Quick Overview

A lot of mediocre notekeepers are available out there—so let’s forget about them for a moment and talk about a genuinely superior one. In this mystery shopping review, we are discussing Craft Notes, a reliable, top-notch solution for everyone looking for a place to store their memos. Craft Notes joins the race with an outstanding 90/100 on the AHelp score, which makes it one of the confident leaders and a decent contender for the crown of the best note keeper online.

Does the Craft Notes app even have any flaws? Well, it can be challenging to navigate in its user interface for newcomers, and adjusting can take some time. One more thing to mention is that it lacks the feature of exporting notes, so you can’t download your memos. However, seamless sync between multiple devices can compensate for this minor issue.

The Good
  • Versatile templates
  • Multiple purposes
  • Text, pics, vids supported
The Bad
  • Overcomplicated UI

Quick Overview

Let’s talk about one more relatively popular note keeper on the online market, Reflect Notes. Reflect Notes is a pretty new and decent solution for users looking for a place to store notes. Some people enjoy its minimalist functionality and neat design; others really like the stylish, harmonic color scheme. The Reflect app offers every basic function the excellent memo keeper should offer—multi-device synchronization, a convenient editor, and simple templates for markdown lists and organizers.

However, Reflect struggles to provide advanced features that most competitors have already implemented. If you are looking for a place to keep notes, you can find it on the Reflect website for a fair price, but it is not the best platform to work on the more complex projects.

The Good
  • Seamless sync across multiple devices
  • Tidy and crisped design
  • Convenient editor
The Bad
  • A little bit on the pricey side
  • No complex templates

Reflect Notes Review 2025

Value for Money 5/20 ⭐: Pricing Plans and Features

Reflect Notes is a sleek and tidy solution for keeping your thoughts organized, but does it justify its price? While the app’s minimalist design and smooth multi-device synchronization make it appealing, some users might find it a bit costly for what it offers. Its markdown-friendly editor and basic templates cater well to straightforward note-taking, but if you’re expecting advanced features or smart integrations, you might be left wanting more. Reflect Notes delivers the basics beautifully, but it can seem bleak in comparison with more superior rivals. Reflect offers their potential clients a 14-day free trial and charges premium plan users $10 per month if billed annually.

Reflect Notes Review 2025

Using Reflect Notes is an enjoyable experience if simplicity is what you’re after. The app’s clean interface and color scheme create a pleasant environment for jotting down ideas or organizing your day. The editor is intuitive and supports markdown, making it ideal for users who prefer minimal distractions. However, Reflect’s lack of complex templates and AI-powered tools makes it less suitable for handling more intricate projects. While it excels in simplicity, its limited features may not meet the needs of users requiring advanced functionality.

The Bottom Line of Reflect Review

You can consider Reflect Notes the best choice if you value simplicity over complexity and want a convenient way to store memos. If you want to work on more considerable projects, manage and organize tasks, or create a complex, multilevel note-keeping system, we recommend looking forward to more superior apps. Unfortunately, Reflect gets only 55/100 on the AHelp score.

Are you tired of note-keeping apps that promise the world but under-deliver? Notesnook might be what you’re looking for. Overall Experience 40/80 ⭐⭐: Is Notesnook the Choice for You?

As with many open-sourced products, the app is extremely minimalist—some people will enjoy swift and convenient editors, while others will ask for additional advanced features. It is convenient and simple to use Notesnook as a place to store memos; you can figure out its interface and functionality in a few minutes. However, the app does not really follow the golden principle, “easy to learn, hard to master.” You don’t need to master anything with Notesnook—it offers very limited functionality with only a few features.

For those needing more customization and offline usability, you might want to explore other options—there are plenty of better apps that charge less than Notesnook available on the Internet. For Notesnook, it doesn’t get any better than 45/100 on the AHelp score—hence, we are talking about a pretty mediocre note keeper.

If you’re on the lookout for a dependable app to keep your notes organized, GoodNotes might catch your eye. Overall Experience 40/80 ⭐⭐: Is GoodNotes Good?

While the Goodnotes app serves its core purpose as a note-keeping tool, it doesn’t go beyond the basics to impress. The absence of templates further restricts customization options, requiring users to start from the beginning each time.

The Bottom Line: GoodNotes Review

GoodNotes is a serviceable option for anyone seeking a straightforward note-keeping app. It gets the job done but doesn’t shine in any particular area. While the one-week free trial and import/export features add some appeal, the poor design choices and lack of advanced functionality hold it back. If you value simplicity and don’t mind an uninspiring interface, this app could work for you. But if you’re after a more feature-rich or visually pleasing experience, there are better alternatives available.

With tools like interactive canvases and support for a wide range of file formats, you’re paying for versatility rather than frills. The free version is solid for basic needs, but the premium option truly unleashes its potential—ideal for those juggling complex workflows. Seeing software that provides this level of utility at an affordable price is a refreshing sight.MilaNote asks only for $9.99 per month in order to unlock all advanced features (or $49 per month if billed annually). Overall Experience 70/80 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Is MilaNote Enjoyable to Use?

An instantly familiar yet distinctly polished interface greets you as soon as you land on MilaNote’s website. Setting up your first note is quick and hassle-free. The standout feature is its drag-and-drop canvases, making organization feel natural rather than forced. This app also shines in how effortlessly it syncs notes across devices, offering the kind of reliability that keeps your ideas accessible whenever inspiration strikes. While it lacks pre-built, advanced templates, it encourages creativity with a blank slate that users can mold according to their preferences.

Milanote Review 2025

Customizing notes and building a layered library feels both rewarding and intuitive. Whether attaching images, collaborating with teammates, or sketching out ideas, the platform remains smooth and distraction-free. Still, users who rely heavily on ready-to-go templates might find themselves wanting more here.

FAQ

Is Milanote actually free?

What are the benefits of Milanote?

MilaNote is a decent app overall, but the three things that impressed us most are its seamless synchronization, interactive canvases, and advanced customization to fit any of your note-taking needs.

Quick Overview

Noteplan, similar to Bear, is another note keeping app developed for iOS users. But is it as good as Bear? Well, for starters it has a web version that could be accessed by users from Windows and Android, which is a significant plus. The next benefit is bi-directional linking, that allows you to interlink your notes and develop a web or canvas.

The Good
  • Bi-directional linking
  • Flexible notes
  • Neat design
The Bad
  • Requires linked card to access free trial
  • Available only for iOS (+ web version)

Noteplan Review 2025

Value for Money 10/20 ⭐⭐⭐: Noteplan’s Plans

You can’t really do much here for free: the app extremely limits your functions outside of the premium subscription. The app provides a seven-day free trial for users to test out the note keeper and explore all available functionality. However, accessing the free trial requires linking your credit card, which many may consider a significant disadvantage.

Noteplan Review 2025

In premium mode, Noteplan costs $12 per month (or $8.33 per month if billed annually) and offers a set of features. You can choose from the list of templates to customize the note, work with images and text, and use the list as a personal organizer with a customizable calendar grid. Of course, like almost all decent competitors, Noteplan provides seamless cross-device sync for your notes.

Overall Experience 50/80 ⭐⭐⭐: Is It Convenient?

You enjoy the neat and convenient design when using Noteplan. It is simple to navigate, aesthetically pleasant to use and very compatible with official iOS software. You can really benefit from a special “bi-directional linking” feature that allows you to cross-link the notes and create some kind of complex interactive grid.

Noteplan Review 2025

On the other hand, Noteplan is pretty good in versatility: it allows you to create notes, simple docs and kind-of small organizers. It even allows linking notes with calendars for advanced users, developing previously mentioned grid systems even further.

The Verdict on Noteplan

Noteplan is a decent note-keeping app that directly competes with Bear for the title of the best keeper for iOS. Despite its useful and unique bi-directional linking feature, Noteplan offers similar features to Bear, but with fewer and worse features. It can’t really provide the same seamless and complete experience, so it only gets a 60/100 at the AHelp score.

FAQ

Is NotePlan good?

As a result of our assessment, NotePlan is a middle of the road service. It is a decent note-taker, however, there are many competitor apps that deliver the same, if not better, results for free.

Is NotePlan free?

You can use NotePlan for free, except for the fact that it seriously limits the user experience. Otherwise, the paid version costs $12/month (or $8.33 if billed yearly).

Is NotePlan secure?

On their website, NotePlan states that all user data is not stored on their servers or third-party platforms (depending on your privacy settings). We didn’t encounter any problems while evaluating NotePlan for our review, so it is secure.

What is the difference between Agenda and NotePlan?

The main difference between the two is that Agenda offers a more structured approach, giving users the option to categorize files from the get-go as notes, projects, or other categories, while NotePlan offers more flexibility with simple folders.

Quick Overview

Zoho Notebook offers users the alternative way to keep and organize notes—in this app you can create several customizable notebooks that act like virtual boards, allowing interlinking and structuring. It is quite convenient to store your memos that way, especially if we mention that each notebook has a customizable design, font, and cover image. You can also choose to interact with notes in a form of dashboard; this approach can be more suitable for those who work a lot with task managers, for example, with Jira.

Zoho offers all the same features that most competitors do (seamless sync, premade templates, versatile file formats supported, etc.) but in a more unique and, perhaps, convenient way.

The Good
  • Separate notebooks and dashboards
  • Premade templates
  • Neat, well-structured design
The Bad
  • Too simple note editor

UpNote Review 2025

Value for Money 15/20 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Is UpNote Worth It?

The best part about Simplenote? It’s completely free. No hidden charges, no premium tiers—just a simple tool available to everyone. It’s perfect for users who don’t need extra bells and whistles and appreciate a basic, functional setup.

If your needs are centered on text notes with Markdown formatting and seamless synchronization across devices, Simplenote is an unbeatable value. That said, if you’re hoping for templates or multimedia support, this app might leave you wanting more, unfortunately.

Overall Experience 40/80 ⭐⭐⭐: Is It the Simplest Way to Keep Notes?

Using Simplenote feels refreshingly uncomplicated. The interface is clean and distraction-free, making it perfect for jotting down thoughts, to-do lists, or quick ideas without fuss. The automatic syncing works smoothly, ensuring that your notes are available on all devices without any extra effort.

However, its simplicity comes at a cost. While this may not bother users with straightforward needs, those who want to incorporate images, videos, or more advanced features may find Simplenote too limiting. It is also worth mentioning that Simplenote offers its users a “collaboration” option, allowing several users to work together on one note simultaneously.

Obsidian Notes Review 2025

Value for Money 20/20 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Free Trial, Plans, Features

Obsidian is free to use, and you can use it even without registration. Of course, in order to sync your notes across various devices, you will be required to create an account. There is also a $50 premium plan, which unlocks the full set of Obsidian features.

For a tool that offers various ways to manage your notes, including single notes, folders, and a fully customizable canvas feature, this is a pretty sweet deal. Of course, if you’re a fan of add-ons, Obsidian offers a vibrant community where you can find plugins to extend its capabilities. Although it’s cost-effective, it may require some time to adjust to its quirks.

Overall Experience 60/80 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Is It a Flexible Note Keeper?

Using Obsidian feels like unlocking a treasure chest of possibilities—but you might need a map to figure it out at first. The interface of the app isn’t exactly beginner-friendly, making it challenging to become familiar with. It’s clear that Obsidian is built with flexibility in mind, but this comes at the cost of being easy to use straight out of the gate.

Obsidian Notes Review 2025

Once you get over the initial hurdle, however, you’ll find plenty to like. The app’s multiple note-keeping modes give you freedom in how you organize your ideas, and the ability to create a personal setup with templates is a big win for users who like things just so. The interactive canvas feature is especially cool, offering a fresh way to visualize your notes, create complex block schemes, or visualize to-do lists.

The Verdict

Obsidian is a surprisingly solid tool and almost perfect note keeper. You can use it for free without significant limitations; you can customize your notes or organize them on the interactive smart canvas, and you can download versatile plugins and templates from the official website, as well as create custom ones.

However, there is no web version for Obsidian; you will be forced to download the app (available for Windows, iOS, and Android). The other major drawback is a complex interface: you will need to spend some time adjusting in order to handle all functions and possibilities.

FAQ

Is Obsidian actually useful?

Yes, Obsidian is a handy note-taking app. You can adapt it to best fit your personal flow, especially if you are a fan of brainstorming and like to create non-linear graphs. It has a ton of extensions available, and if you commit to it, using Obsidian will prove itself.

What are the negatives of Obsidian?

Obsidian is definitely not for amateurs. If you are looking for some simple note taking, it can be very overwhelming at first. Although it works great for more complicated projects, first-time users can have some problems adjusting.

Is Obsidian as good as Notion?

Both Notion and Obsidian are good note-taking platforms, but the latter option seriously lacks collaboration features. If you are part of a team, sharing your files can be a huge problem with Obsidian; Notion, however, works well in this specific context. Overall, both platforms are worthy of attention.

What is Obsidian best for?

Obsidian is best for mapping out papers, projects, and all sorts of processes thanks to it sleek design and visually-appealing interface. With the ability to add links, create graphs, and brainstorm via a canvas, Obsidian is a great choice for “messy thinkers” to organize their ideas. Although it takes some time to get use to the platform due to the wide range of features.

Joplin Notes Review 2025

One of Joplin’s standout features is its cost—or lack thereof. Most of its functionality is completely free, which is impressive considering the tools it offers. You can import and export files effortlessly, sync notes across devices, and customize your experience with plugins. For users who don’t mind investing some time into setup and learning the interface, it’s a solid option without a steep price tag.

Joplin allows you to import and export notes (and versatile docs in general) in different formats and will synchronize your editing progress on different devices. However, there are no templates available from the box.

Overall Experience 50/80 ⭐⭐⭐: Convenient Open-Source Note Taking App?

Using Joplin feels like taking on a project. Its interface is dense, and figuring out where things are can be a bit of a chore, especially for newcomers. The design doesn’t hold your hand, and its layout may overwhelm casual users looking for simplicity. That said, for those willing to explore its features and make some adjustments, Joplin is versatile. The ability to add plugins gives it plenty of flexibility, catering to people who like to tweak their tools to fit their style. The syncing capabilities work well, too, making it convenient for users with multiple devices.

Bear Notes Review

Value for Money 15/20 ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Is the Platform Worth Your Money?

The Bear app brings sleek design and practicality together, but its exclusivity to iOS might leave some users feeling left out. While the app itself is free to download, unlocking its full range of features requires a subscription. This includes access to advanced editing tools, professional templates, and cloud sync across devices. While Bear’s subscription cost is reasonable (monthly subscription is available for $2.99; yearly subscription is available for $29.99), it’s worth noting that entirely free alternatives exist—although you may genuinely enjoy the app’s overall design, style and completeness.

For iOS users willing to invest in the premium plan, Bear is a solid choice that offers both convenience and creativity. If you’re looking for a note-keeping app that feels modern and professional, Bear, with its 85/100 at the AHelp score, is definitely worth considering.

FAQ

Bear received 85/100 pts on the A*Help score, which is quite high. The service has a stylish design and an easy-to-use yet advanced editor. So yes, Bear notes can be considered a good app for note taking.

Are Bear notes safe?

We didn’t encounter any privacy problems while using Bear. There are some in-app purchases available but Bear promises a secure experience for every user.

Microsoft OneNote Review

Value for Money 10/20 ⭐⭐: What the Tool Has to Offer

Is Microsoft OneNote worth your time? Well, it is a free app, and everyone can at least give it a try! Let’s explore the main features OneNote has to offer.

On the plus side, OneNote is completely free to use after registration, with no credit card required. This makes it an attractive choice for anyone who’s looking for a no-cost solution for organizing their notes. The lack of a paywall is a huge benefit for students, professionals, and anyone who just needs a reliable place to store their ideas without worrying about subscriptions or hidden fees.

One area where OneNote falls short is in offering templates for specific types of projects. Unlike some other note-taking tools, OneNote doesn’t have pre-made templates for things like project planning, meeting agendas, or goal tracking. Instead, OneNote provides a blank canvas for you to begin with, which may be acceptable for some users but may feel restrictive if you require structure. If you like designing your own layout, this won’t be a problem, but templates are stylish, convenient, and especially good at overcoming the fear of a blank page.

However, the editor itself is amazing, and it is a real standout feature. OneNote gives you a lot of customization options when it comes to creating your notes. You can easily style your notes as a paper sheet or choose from a variety of different fonts, color markers, and other tools to make them visually appealing.

Whether you prefer a clean, minimalist look or a more colorful, creative vibe, OneNote has the flexibility to match your style. The editor makes it simple to organize your thoughts and ideas in a way that is both functional and fun.

Overall Experience 40/80 ⭐⭐: How Easy to Use is OneNote

So, OneNote has decent chances to become your note keeper, but what about cross-device sync or the simplicity of the interface?

The cloud securely stores all your notes, ensuring constant accessibility regardless of your location or device. You can start jotting down ideas on your phone and pick up right where you left off on your computer. It’s a major convenience for those who need quick, simple access to their notes at all times.

Talking about UI… We are referring to the classic Microsoft “square” design, which we believe is not optimal. In our opinion, such design is not only difficult to navigate and locate necessary features, but it also lacks aesthetic appeal.

Microsoft OneNote Review

Thanks to the advanced editor, you can create everything in one note: charts, tables, notes, and more. However, due to the lack of pre-made templates, you will need to spend time in order to tailor each note to your exact needs.

The Verdict on OneNote

Microsoft OneNote is a solid option for anyone looking to store and manage their notes across multiple devices, especially convenient for Microsoft users. Whether you’re using a laptop, phone, or tablet, OneNote has you covered with its seamless cross-device sync. However, there are some significant drawbacks: UX can feel overwhelming and unnecessary, and there are no pre-made templates to transform your notes into calendars, concepts, or organizers in a few clicks.OneNote is a handy tool for managing notes across devices, but the design could definitely use some improvement to make navigation smoother. If you’re someone who loves customizing your notes and doesn’t mind starting from a blank page, OneNote’s editor is an absolute gem. While it may not be the best option for those seeking ready-to-go templates, its cloud syncing, flexibility, and free price tag make it a solid choice for note-keeping on the go. Therefore, OneNote can be considered a decent note-keeping app due to its average 50/100 AHelp score; however, expect a slight learning curve when you first start!

FAQ

Is OneNote a good program?

OneNote covers basic note taking needs, but for more advanced users it might not be as convenient. There are no available templates and the platform practically works the same as Word. So it wouldn’t be our first choice, but if you aren’t looking for something elaborate, OneNote will do just fine.

Which is better, OneNote or Evernote?

Evernote scored 80/100 pts on our A*Help score, while OneNote got only 50 pts. So Evernote is a better tool in our book.

What are the disadvantages of Microsoft OneNote?

Some users say that they struggle with finding the needed notes via word search. It also doesn’t have the best user interface, compared to some competitors, and no premade templates to use. There have also been reports of faulty syncing between devices, where the notes didn’t fully load.

Is OneNote completely free?

Although a part of Microsoft Office family, you don’t need to pay to use OneNote fully. So yes, it is completely free.
